How to Add a Logo to a QR Code
A logo in the center of your QR code reinforces brand recognition and builds trust. Done correctly, the code still scans perfectly. Done wrong, it breaks silently.
How Logos Work in QR Codes
QR codes include built-in error correction. When you create a QR code, up to 30% of the pattern can be missing or obscured — and the code still scans correctly, because the missing data is reconstructed from the redundant information in the rest of the pattern.
A logo replaces some modules in the center of the QR code. As long as the logo covers less than the error correction capacity, the scanner recovers the missing data automatically.
Logo Size Limits
The practical safe limit is around 25% of the QR code area. Beyond this, even with high error correction, some scanners fail — especially older phones with slower cameras.
The FREE QR 360 generator enforces this limit automatically. The logo is constrained to 30% of the QR width by default, which keeps it within safe bounds while leaving room for the QR pattern around it.
Logo Format Requirements
- Accepted formats: PNG, JPEG, WebP
- Maximum file size: 5 MB
- Maximum dimension: 4096 × 4096 pixels
- Best format: PNG with a transparent background — this blends cleanly with any QR background color
- Avoid: Logos with fine detail or very thin lines — these don't render well at small sizes
How to Add a Logo
Choose a QR type, enter your content and move to the Customize step.
In the Customize step, click the logo upload area and select your PNG, JPG or WebP file. The generator validates the file and re-encodes it safely.
The live preview shows the logo centered in the QR code. Check that the QR pattern is still clearly visible around the logo.
Download and test the QR code on at least two different phones before printing in large quantities. Scan from various distances and lighting conditions.
